Liverpool have reportedly rejected a £20m offer from Real Madrid to sign Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 26-year-old defender's contract expires this summer and according to the Daily Mail, the Spanish champions are confident they can convince him to join.

However, with veteran right-back Dani Carvajal injured, Carlo Ancelotti's side attempted to sign Alexander-Arnold on Tuesday. It was more of a club-to-club approach than a formal offer or monetary offer, but it was quickly rejected.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Real Madrid are considering a formal offer of around £20 million to convince the Merseyside giants to part ways with Alexander-Arnold.

The Premier League leaders are in dialogue with Alexander-Arnold and his camp and are interested in extending his contract, as well as those of Mohamed Salah and captain Virgil van Dijk.

Alexander-Arnold has a big decision to make about his future, and it's understood that the £20m bid from Madrid is turned down because Liverpool will wait until the end of January to see if the 26-year-old full back will commit himself to a new improved contract.
