It's official - Liverpool Football Club have successfully negotiated a £12.5 million deal with Italian giants Juventus for the signing of Italian winger Federico Chiesa

The fee for the 26-year-old is placed at £10 million up front, plus £2.5 million based on his primary team performance, with Liverpool expected to grant him a four year contract at Anfield.

Other clubs had also been reported to be interested in Chiesa, most notably Barcelona who had struggled financially in order to be able to register him. Interest from Saudi Arabia also had poses a great competition to the Reds' negotiations for the winger.

Chiesa was transferred to Juventus in a permanent deal in 2022 following a two year loan at Fiorentina. He participated in 98 games for the club, scoring 21 times.

Analysis of the transfer deal and its implications

The financial aspects of the £12.5 million agreement between Liverpool and Juventus for Federico Chiesa are significant for both clubs. For Liverpool, acquiring Chiesa at this price represents a strategically sound investment, particularly considering his potential and previous performances. The winger's current contract with Juventus valued at around £150,000 a week, and he's valued at £25million transfer fee for the remaining 10 months of his contract. Hence, by negotiating a transfer fee substantially lower than his market worth, Liverpool is capitalizing on Chiesa's reduced status, after failing to sign him 3 years back at his peak during Jurgen Klopp's era. A good deal for both clubs!
