Liverpool and Feyenoord have reached an agreement over a compensation package for Arne Slot, with the Dutchman set to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Anfield.
The Eredivisie side rejected an initial offer worth around £7.7million but after constructive talks throughout Friday, a deal has now been agreed.
According to Dutch football magazine Voetbal International, the two clubs are currently drawing up the paperwork and Slot’s move to Liverpool could be officially confirmed as early as Saturday.
Slot has already agreed terms with Liverpool and announced on Thursday evening that he wanted to leave Rotterdam to take up the challenge of succeeding Klopp at Anfield.
The 45-year-old was always confident that Feyenoord would let him leave despite rejecting Liverpool’s opening offer and feels he was owed ‘a favour’ after rejecting a move to Tottenham last summer.
Speaking to NOS, he explained: ‘In the past, other members of my staff have been afforded a nice move [assistant Marino Pusic joined Shakhtar earlier this season]. Now I’m really asking for a favour, especially when you see the amounts being offered.
‘It’s a decision for the club. On the one hand, the club quite rightly wants to get a lot of money out of the deal and, on the other hand, I think there will be some gratitude from their side for the past three years.

‘A balance will have to be found in terms of the transfer fee. It depends on the management of both clubs, I’m just sketching out a scenario of how I think it should go.’
He added: ‘It is not the first time that a major club has shown interest [after Tottenham approached Feyenoord last summer]. Then I made the choice to stay. That was a good choice for all parties. Now another big club has come calling. I am waiting to see how it will turn out.’
Slot won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season and lifted the KNVB Cup this season, as well as securing a second-place finish, despite losing a number of players last summer.

He is known for playing high-intensity, front-foot, attacking football which is an ideal fit for the squad Klopp will leave behind, with the departing German coach having already endorsed Liverpool’s move for Slot.
‘What I like a lot about it is if he is the one then he wants to take the job – he’s desperate, excited, let’s go for it,’ said Klopp on Friday.
‘I like the way his team play football and all the things I hear about him as a guy. Some people I know, know him, I don’t know him yet. Good coach, good guy.
‘If he’s the solution for the club then I am more than happy. It’s not up to me to judge but it all sounds really good to me.’
