Two January exit move nearer as Liverpool face double disciplinary wait

Liverpool have two players at risk of suspension for their New Year's Premier League match against Newcastle United

Two players will walk the disciplinary tightrope during Liverpool's Boxing Day game against Burnley.

Wataru Endo picked up his fourth yellow card in the Premier League during Saturday's 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal and was just one away from suspension.

Darwin Nunez also suffered the same number of yellow cards during last weekend's dismal goalless draw with Manchester United at Anfield.

However, the trip to Turf Moor represented the final game before the Premier League's disciplinary amnesty, which was introduced after the team's 19th game, the midpoint of the season. After that, a player must receive 10 yellow cards to receive a one-game suspension.
This means that if both sides can avoid picking up a yellow or red card against Burnley, they will be available for the New Year's Day away game against Newcastle United.

According to Premier League rules, a player who receives 10 yellow cards before the 32nd game week will be banned for two games, while a player who receives 15 yellow cards before the end of the season will be banned for three games.

Regardless of the suspension, Endo will be out for up to five weeks after the Newcastle game as he will represent Japan at the Asian Cup. Liverpool are also likely to be without Mohamed  Salah who on the other hand travels to Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations.
