Liverpool have been handed a blow in their pursuit to sign Piero Hincapie this January
Xavi Alonso will block Liverpool from bringing in Piero Hincappi in the January transfer window, Sky Sports reports.
Alonso's stance suggests Liverpool would wait until next summer to sign the Ecuadorian Centre-half.
The Reds are said to be interested in the defender who plays for Bayer Leverkusen, with a January move "possible".
Leverkusen are currently top of the Bundesliga and enjoying the winter break, but Hincapie is not a regular in the team.
Former Liverpool midfielder and Leverkusen manager Alonso's sentiments were echoed by sporting director Simon Rolfes, who reiterated his stance that no players will be sold.
"Everyone stays. We're not letting any players leave in the winter," he said.
