Fluminese not willing to allow Andre Trindade leave club despite personal terms with Liverpool
Liverpool have reportedly agreed on personal terms with Fluminense midfielder, Andre, as they look to secure his services this summer.
The 22-year-old Brazilian has a release clause of £34 million in his contract, but the Reds would need to negotiate with Fluminense to finalize the deal.
The Merseyside club have been interested in Andre for some time, and their pursuit of the midfielder intensified after missing out on Moises Caicedo. Andre's potential move to Anfield would provide a long-term solution for Jurgen Klopp's midfield, with the one-cap Brazil international seen as a successor to Thiago Alcantara, whose contract expires in 2024 .
Nonetheless, Fluminense have been resistant to selling the Copa Libertadores superstar and have insisted that the Brazilian top-flight competition must be ended before any offer can be considered, meaning the Reds must wait patiently until the winter transfer window of January 2024.
Liverpool would need to trigger Andre's release clause to secure his services this summer, However, his employer's unwillingness to let him move has halted the Reds's pursuit of the midfielder.
Despite Fluminense's resistance, Andre has put pressure on the club to allow him to move to Anfield.
Emmanuel Luiz a Brazilian journalist said of the saga: "Manchester United went to Andre's camp to talk to them about a possible negotiation. What they said [was] the player has personal terms agreed with Liverpool, personal already agreed. That's done.
"The player said to Fluminense, the situation today - I called some guys close to Andre - and they said to me, Andre said to Fluminense 'I want to go to Liverpool, I want to go, I have personal terms agreed'. That's fine but what Fluminense said [was] we are not going to say right now because of the Copa Libertadores that we already know.
"So Andre said 'I'm going to talk to them [Liverpool]."
Liverpool's agreement on personal terms with Andre a significant would be a significant step towards securing the midfielder's services. However, negotiations with Fluminense are ongoing, and Liverpool will need to meet the player's release clause of £34million to persuade the Brazilian club to sell before the end of the transfer window, unlike the £21million offer reported to be wanted by the Brazilian club to offload the player probably outside the summer.
