Liverpool have agreed a £60 million fee to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton

On August 4th, Lfcrumour.com reported that Liverpool had agreed to sign Romeo Lavia from Southampton for an undisclosed fee. Chelsea were also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder, but Liverpool emerged as the victors in the bidding war.


Recent reports had it that the Reds have had three of their bid rejected by Southampton  for for the player.


But, now, The Guardian's Jacob Steinberg has confirmed the deal, reporting that Liverpool had agreed to pay Southampton £60 million for Lavia's services.


Despite interest from other clubs, Liverpool successfully secured an  agreement for  the midfielder , which could have a significant impact on their upcoming season.


The transfer fee for the Belgian's move to Liverpool is reported to be £60 million, making him one of the most expensive signings for the club.


The terms of Lavia's contract with Liverpool have not been disclosed, but it is expected that he will sign a long-term deal with the club.

However there has also been disturbing reports that he will prefer a move to Chelsea.


Lavia is a highly-rated defensive midfielder and has been described as a "wonderkid" by some reports.


His signing is expected to strengthen Liverpool's midfield and provide more options for manager Jurgen Klopp.
