Luis Diaz has revealed he hopes to recover from an injury in time for Liverpool's trip to Real Madrid next month
Diaz has not featured since a knee injury in the Reds' 3-2 defeat to Arsenal on October 9. The Colombian was called up to Liverpool's mid-season training camp in Dubai during the World Cup off-season but suffered a setback after returning to training, flying back to England to undergo knee surgery.
Earlier this month, Reds boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed Diaz has stepped up his rehabilitation and is now able to walk on grass. However, he admits it will be "a few weeks" before he is ready to return to first-team training.
But now the ex-Porto winger has broken his silence.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he admitted he has his sights set on Liverpool's Champions League second-leg tie with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu on March 15.
"Let's wait [for] a little to see when I can come back to the pitch, and if it's the Bernabeu it will be no problem," said the 26-year-old when asked for an update on his recuperation. Before later adding that he hopes to be "back soon".
Liverpool already have Diogo Jota and Arthur Melo back from injury and other major squad boost. Both players were spotted training this week ahead of Monday's Merseyside derby.
