Liverpool are reportedly closing in on World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez in another blow to Manchester United
A number of Premier League clubs have cued up for Fernandez who impressively won the 2022 World Cup with Argentina weeks ago.
Manchester United became favourites to land the Argentine midfielder with plans to fork out a huge figure to trigger his release clause in January edging over Liverpool who were rumoured to have reached a pre-agreement with Benfica for the player's signature next summer.
Chelsea are the latest on the list with over €127m being prepared by the London Blues according to the Daily Record who claims Chelsea owner Todd Boehly is going all out to clinch a deal.
It has been gathered that Liverpool are pulling the strings despite interest from their domestic rivals, the Reds are now swiftly putting things together in order to revamp their approach and get a deal done next month. A close source disclosed that talks between the Merseyside club and Benfica are progressing well with Enzo actually preferring a move to Anfield rather than Manchester United.
Fernandez has a release clause worth around €120m on his current contract at Benfica and the Reds would have to fork out that huge amount.
What do you think about this report? Should Liverpool pay over £105m for Fernandez next month?
