Liverpool could go all out for Joao Gomes in January according to reports
Liverpool could hots up pursuit for Joao Gomes amid Real Madrid's interest |
The Reds have been closely linked with the Flamengo midfielder Gomes since the end of the summer window, but now face competition from Real Madrid, who see the Brazilian as Casemiro's natural successor.
Having been beaten by the Los Blancos to the signature of Aurelian Chuameni in the summer, Liverpool could move quickly in January to avoid a repeat of their mistakes. The 21-year-old signed a new contract with Flamengo earlier in September, with the Brazilian club reluctant to negotiate a release clause below €60m (£54.3m).
Spanish publication Sport says the Reds could possibly trigger the player's £53.4m release clause in January.
