Darwin Nunez scores header against West Ham United at Anfield |
Another night of football action to cherish for Reds fans. The Reds were solid at the back against David Moyes Hammers to secure two consecutive home Premier League in the space of three days wins as they moved to 5th position in the league standings.
Watching Nunez score his first goal at Anfield was an exciting experience for Liverpool's faithfuls who have been keeping closer look at the Uruguayan's performance.
On his third goal in four Premier League games, Nunez performed a header that penetrated through Lukasz Fabianski after the ball hits the ground.
The 22-year-old also narrowly missed a chance to score again in the first half when his shot hit the post.
Liverpool dominated the first half at some point before Bowen had to push in a penalty to a comfortable height for Alisson's save hands following Joe Gomez's ball contest with the West Ham's forward which was checked by VAR.
The Reds continued their control of the game and should have scored more goals after the substitution of three players early in the second half.
Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones came close to extending the lead before Jordan Henderson's cross was deflected into the Hammers' crossbar by Kurt Zouma.
Liverpool's waste, however, gave West Ham hope of saving something late, and James Milner needed a crucial block to prevent Thomas Suchek from levelling from close range with three minutes remaining.
Liverpool now sits 7th in the Premier League table with 11 points adrift of leaders Arsenal whose match with Manchester City tonight was postponed.
