Jurgen Klopp has admitted he was "very angry" at failing to complete an £11m's player transfer to Liverpool
Serbia international Tadic joined Ajax in 2018 and helped them reach the semi-finals. He won the Champions League in his first season back in the Eredivisie.
Before that, however, Tadic drew attention when he played alongside former Liverpool star Sadio Mane at Southampton.
The forward, who spent time with Groningen and Twente early in his career, captained Ajax at Anfield in September when Alfred Schruder's side suffered a last-second defeat. The Dutch champions need a second-leg win in Amsterdam to go on to the Champions League Knockouts next year.
Speaking about the player ahead of Liverpool's meeting with Ajax on Wednesday evening, Klopp said: 'I was very angry with myself when he went to Ajax , because I was also interested in him," Klopp told Dutch broadcaster RTL (via Ajax Showtime ). "I love him as a player".
