The Football Association is investigating a confrontation between opposing players in Arsenal's 3-2 Premier League victory over Liverpool.

Players from both sides clashed after referee Michael Oliver awarded Arsenal a penalty at the Emirates Stadium.

Oliver also spoke with the two managers on the sidelines following the incident.

The FA will speak to Oliver and his team of referees before deciding whether further steps should be taken.

"We are aware of an incident between Arsenal and Liverpool. We are in dialogue with match officials and will review the details of the incident," an FA spokesman said.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said in a TV interview after the game that he was "not allowed to provide any further details".

Arteta later told a news conference: "It was an incident that happened. Whatever happens on that pitch stays on that pitch."
