Darwin Nunez: Sometimes it can take six months say former Everton man

Darwin Nunez should get more playing time to find his goalscoring form

Darwin Nunez applauds fans as he leaves the  pitch during Liverpool's 2-0 win over Rangers

That's according to former Everton striker Kevin Campbell who believes the Uruguayan will need more time, even up to six months to settle on Merseyside.

Liverpool agreed a deal worth up to £85.5m with Benfica in the summer, which includes add-ons for Nunez. However, the 23-year-old has only scored twice since moving  to Merseyside.

Nunez's last appearance takes him to the top
against Rangers in the Champions League. Despite multiple attempts to score, the Uruguayan repeatedly failed to beat goalkeeper Alan McGregor.

Former Everton striker Kevin Campbell has explained why he thinks Nunes has struggled since moving to Anfield. The former Blues striker has given a timetable on how long he thinks the Liverpool star will take to settle on Merseyside.

Campbell told Football Insider: “This is one of the problems when you go to a club like Liverpool with the levels they expect to be at.

“His sending-off did him no favours. He was still getting used to the Premier League.

“He’s missed three games, come back – and now he’s not scoring. He’s not hit the ground running.

“Sometimes, it takes six months to settle in. Jurgen Klopp has the squad to change things around.

“He’s got to find the right balance, and he’s gone back to his tried and tested – and it’s worked, in a sense.

“Nunez will get his game time, and Liverpool will come good. It’s just a difficult time for him right now.”
