Rumors that Liverpool would acquire Ruben Neves before the end of this summer transfer period were quashed by Wolves manager Bruno Lage on Sunday.
Lage said he was 99% sure that Neves would stay at the Molineux, which put to an end the hopes of Liverpool fans.
Klopp recently admitted that Liverpool need to make signings to their midfield. Amid his declaration, it was rumoured that the Reds are considering Wolves and Portuguese midfielder Reuben Neves as a late summer target.
However, it now appears unlikely that the two will finalize a deal before the closing of the transfer market.
Speaking after their 1-1 draw on Sunday where Neves scored a spectacular outside kick, Wolves boss Bruno Lage said about his midfield star's future: "I’m 99 per cent certain he will stay for one more year. He's happy here and committed."
