Borussia Dortmund want to sign wantaway Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita
Keita's Liverpool contract comes to an end next summer and it seems the midfielder is not prepared to sign a new deal.
According to recent reports initial talks between Liverpool and Naby Keita about a contract extension was unsuccessful.
Borussia Dortmund are now reportedly interested in signing the Guinea international.
Keita has been a low key player for Liverpool since joining the club from RB Leipzig in 2018, and has struggled with injuries since that time.
Dortmund are understood to be keen on signing Keita permanently this summer.
What is the latest?
It's becoming clearer that Keita wants to leave Liverpool as he continues to resist a new deal.
Meanwhile, the latest news on the Borussia Dortmund front is that they are looking to sign the Guinea midfielder amid Liverpool interest in the BVB's midfield starlet Jude Bellingham.
Liverpool have been struggling for form as of late and Keita has not featured since the beginning of the new Premier League season. Dortmund believe that they can capitalise on the situation and get Keita for a cut-price deal.
How likely is the transfer to happen?
Jurgen Klopp is reportedly reluctant to sell Naby, who has been a low-key player for the Reds since his arrival from RB Leipzig in 2018. However, with the Anfield club interest in Jude Bellingham there are options for Dortmund. Liverpool may be tempted to loose ties if the BVBs insert Jude Bellingham to their offer.
What does this mean for Liverpool?
It remains to be seen whether Borussia Dortmund will be able to agree a deal with Liverpool, who are unlikely to want to sell Keita with respect to the club's boss demand.
However, this news will come as a win to some group of Liverpool fans who think Jurgen Klopp's midfield midfield has been due for overhauling.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Keita within a year, but he could be on his way out of Anfield sooner than expected.
Could this be a game changer for Klopp's squad?
Dortmund could offer Naby Keita a way out of Anfield since he's been unable to secure a regular place in Jurgen Klopp's starting line-up.
Keita has made just one appearances for Liverpool this new season and saw his worst ever in the 2020-2021 season where he managed just 10 Premier League appearances.
If Dortmund are able to convince Keita to make the move from Liverpool, it could be a game-changer for Klopp and the club who could take advantage of the deal to land their long-term major target Jude Bellingham, whereas they're also looking at signing Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Both midfielders would add the much-needed depth and quality to Jurgen Klopp's midfield, and could help the Reds challenge for silverware once again if they are signed.
