Jurgen Klopp is adamant Liverpool will not panic in the transfer window after their injury concerns were deepened further in their Premier League season opener
Thiago Alcantara has become the latest player to go the sidelines after he limped off with a suspected hamstring injury in the Reds' 2-2 Premier League draw at Fulham on Saturday.
The Spaniard, who clutched his left leg and underwent treatment before departing, will undergo scans to determine the extent of the damage .
Liverpool were already without midfielders Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Curtis Jones and the ill Naby Keita, with goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, full-backs Kostas Tsimikas and Calvin Ramsay, centre-back Ibrahima Konate and forward Diogo Jota also still absent.
But Klopp is adamant any transfer must "make sense" with more than three weeks remaining in the summer window.
Before now, Liverpool were reported to have succeeded in securing the transfer of Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes.
"We actually have enough (midfielders),” said the Reds boss. "The problem is we are now punished for something that isn’t our responsibility. Things like this can happen.
"Nobody could imagine that Curtis gets the thing he gets. It’s nothing serious but he’s a young boy and he’s had a stress reaction and bodies are like this.
"Naby is only ill and will definitely be back next week again. Oxlade (injury) happened early, and now Thiago. That’s not good.
"We will see. A transfer must make sense now and in the long-term. We have eight midfielders. We still have enough midfielders. It’s not that we lack midfielders, it’s just some of them are injured.
"This isn't a good situation, I don't like it at all. We have to see how we react on that, but for sure not panic."
