Takumi Minamino's move to Monaco was confirmed last night in a deal worth up £15.5 million
Coming back from a season loan at Southampton, Minamino played a huge role in the Reds' FA Cup and League Cup triumph last season as he was top scorer for the Anfield club in both competitions.
Speaking after his move to Monaco, the 25-year-old said : "It is a great joy for me [to join AS Monaco].
"I am very happy to be part of this very exciting project, at a club with a great tradition and among the most recognized in Ligue 1.
Minamino had revealed the dark part of his Liverpool journey, how he was driven by anger and regret amid links with his new employers.
Speaking to Japanese media Sanspo, Minamino said: "Many of the games I played weren’t of interest to anyone.
"Even if I left the results, there wasn’t much response. I was trying to inspire myself to prove my worth and I was doing personal training other than team training.
"I was thinking that I would leave something behind when I went to the match mentally.
"And I felt motivated by regret and anger every day. I’ve never had this much time as a player. It was difficult to maintain the condition and connect with my feelings."
