Liverpool are confident they can be free to sign Jude Bellingham next summer as Manchester City edge closer to landing Kalvin Phillips
Having already sanctioned moves for Fabio Carvalho, Calvin Ramsay and Darwin Nunez, Jurgen Klopp’s summer of incoming business looks to have been completed. The Reds have also allowed three of their notable players leave this summer. Divock Origi, Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino have been shown the exit door.
The Anfield club came off worst in their transfer battle with Real Madrid to sign Aurelien Tchouameni earlier this month.
They're already in contact with Inter Milan for star midfielder Nicolo Barella.
But following Manchester City proposal to sign Leeds United Kalvin Phillips thoughts are already turning to the summer window in 2023 where Bellingham is likely to feature prominently.
City are also said to be monitoring Bellingham’s situation, but their imminent capture of Kalvin Phillips has the Reds confident they will win the race, according to the Sun . Leeds skipper Phillips is closing in on a move to the Etihad after seeing a £45million bid accepted by the Whites.
He now looks set to battle with Rodri for a starting berth in Pep Guardiola’s starting XI, meaning Bellingham could face a fight for regular football if he move to the Manchester Blues - something that should be on offer more readily at Merseyside.
