Harry Kane has sent a Golden Boot message to Darwin Nunez after £85m Liverpool deal
Liverpool have reached an agreement with Benfica for the signing of the 22-year-old Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez.
The Portuguese club confirmed in the early hours of Monday morning the Reds will pay an initial fee of €75million for Nunez, plus an possible €25m in add-ons.
Otherwise in the transfer market, Manchester City have announced the signing of striker Erling Haaland. Borussia Dortmund will receive £51m from the Premier Leaguer champions for the Norway international, who could battle with Nunez for the Premier League Golden Boot award, won three times previously by Kane.
And, speaking ahead of England’s Nations League match against Hungary, the Spurs star was asked about the prospect of competing against Nunez and Haaland.
"The battle for the Golden Boot is always tough, the Premier League has produced some top strikers around the world for a number of years now," said Kane.
"Every season I've been playing it's always been a tough battle to win the Golden boot and it’s no different.
"You expect the top strikers to want to play in the Premier League, and with those two signings it’s going to be the case.
"I think it helps me as a player to have good competition, it drives me to improve and get better and I’ll look forward to the challenge."
