UCL Final: Klopp confirms double injury scare

Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk face a race to be fit for Liverpool's quadruple finale

The two Anfield stars seem certain to miss the visit to Southampton on Tuesday night. Van Dijk appeared  to be the biggest worry, with a knee injury that forced him off at the end of normal time in the FA Cup final at Wembley.

Salah has a groin issue, but it was just tightness, with Liverpool's biggest star withdrawn barely a half-hour into the epic contest with Chelsea as a precaution, despite insisting he wanted to play on.

Van Dijk revealed that he was struggling with an issue behind his knee, and he said: "I felt [it] in the first half when I did a sprint in the channel. I played 20 minutes, or something like that, with a little twinge behind the knee. I played on but, in the end, I can't risk it for the team and I need to trust Joel (Matip). We're going to check it out. Hopefully, it will be fine."

Klopp admitted that both were likely to miss the visit to Southampton, but he said: "The next game is on Tuesday and that's obviously pretty quick. No, I think they both will be fine, but not… maybe… (on Tuesday)."
