Rio Ferdinand has explained why Liverpool need to sign a player ‘like’ N’Golo Kante at Chelsea
N'Golo Kante is linked with moves away from Chelsea this summer |
Liverpool recently faced Chelsea in the FA Cup final, where they ran out victorious against the Blues in penalty shootouts. The tie finished goalless after extra time, with Kostas Tsimikas netting the winning spot-kick.
Ferdinand was speaking about the Reds' victory at Wembley on his Youtube show, Vibe with FIVE when the former Manchester United defender dived into Jurgen Klopp's midfield.
When his fellow presenter Stephen Howson spoke about Liverpool lacking a certain quality of player in midfield. Ferdinand then explained why he felt Kante would be the ideal player to fit into the middle of the park for the Reds.
"I feel like they lack in the real engine room, or they lack being able to push that defence or overload that defence like they would against a team with a back four," said Howson.
Ferdinand replied: "That's where they need a Kante.
"A fit Kante has the energy, and if he’s given the licence to get on and jump out of a defensive block, he's the one player who could cause them problems."
