Egypt sports minister, Ashraf Sobhi, has revealed he advised Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah to find a new club
Liverpool and Salah have been locked in contract negotiations for a number of months now, and Sobhi has revealed he met with the Premier League top scorer after Egypt's World Cup qualifiers defeat in Senegal and advised him to leave Anfield and continue his career elsewhere.
Sobhi also disclosed that the 29-year-old winger is planning to agree a new deal to stay put at Anfield.
"I met with Mohamed Salah at the airport after the end of the Senegal match and the failure to reach the World Cup finals and said to him to forget what happened and focus on what’s next," the sport minister told an Egyptian radio on Monday.
"I have advised him to continue his journey at a club other than Liverpool, but his direction now is to renew his contract with Liverpool.
"There are campaigns against Salah directed by some to bring him down, but I asked him not to pay attention to them."
