Nigel Winterburn is not conviced Liverpool can win quadruple this season
Liverpool's hopes of completing a 'quadruple' of major trophies was kept alive this week following a Premier League win over West Ham United and a progress to the Champions League quarter-finals.
With the Carabao Cup already sitting in the cabinet, a 3-0 win over Norwich in the FA Cup 5th round secured a quarter-final place for the Reds where they'll face Championship side Nottingham Forest.
Speaking to paddy power, Former England and Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn when asked about Liverpool's chances of pulling off an historic four-trophy haul this season, said : "It's a big statement to say if Liverpool win the quadruple this season, they would be the most successful team in recent history. It would be a major achievement to win it though.
"One or two other teams will have a say in whether they do go on to win it. It's such a difficult thing to do, operating at such a high-level game in, game out – particularly in cup competitions. One poor performance and you’re out.
"Do I personally see them achieving the quadruple? No. But we’re seeing an excellent side with a lot of top-quality players. They’ve shown us that when games are tight, they can grind the results out.
"Liverpool will believe that they can achieve it. When I was at Arsenal, even before the season started, we said that we wanted to win everything. As the season progresses, it's tough to focus on everything and keep up fitness and intensity.
"Liverpool's priority will likely be the Premier League and Champions League. Manchester City will have a big say in both though."
