Jamie Carragher sees Simeone as possible Jurgen Klopp replacement

Jamie Carragher has revealed that he was recently 'talking' about Diego Simeone possibly replacing Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool

The Anfield legend claimed that he would 'love to see' the Atletico Madrid manager take over a club in the Premier League. The claim came during the latest episode of The Overlap.

Simeone has led Atletico to league titles in 2014 and last year, as well as winning a Copa del Rey and the Europa League twice. The Argentine also helped the Madrid outfit reach the Champions League final in 2014 and 2016, losing on both occasions to city rivals Real Madrid.

And when talk turned to whether Simeone could move to Manchester United in the summer, Carragher dropped an interesting response to the suggestion.

"Yes, I think so. He has that stature," he said. "Gary (Neville) talks about coming up against him. He has got that presence, hasn’t he? I was talking to someone last night actually about Simeone for Liverpool, talking about when Klopp would leave in a couple of years.

"I would love to see Simeone in the Premier League. To see how he plays. Is it because he's up against Real Madrid and Barcelona, he is always the underdog. If he went to Manchester United and got as much money as anyone, would he play differently? I am not so sure."
