Pep Guardiola has labelled Liverpool as a "pain in the a**" for his Manchester City team
The Reds are still fighting for another Premier League title win after three years, with a nine-point gap separating them in second place from leaders Man City so far this term, and one game in hand to close the gap to six points.
The Merseyside club are also still competing for all three cup tournaments this season, with the final of the Carabao Cup later this month as well as the fifth round of the FA Cup a few days later.
A 5-0 win for Guardiola's side against Sporting CP in the Champions League put the Citizens in cruise control in the fixture, and after the game the Man City boss was interviewed by Peter Schmeichel for CBS Sports.
Guardiola was quizzed on which teams could catch his team in the Premier League and could beat them in the Champions League.
When asked which team could "beat" Man City, Guardiola replied: "Liverpool."
He added: "They are six points behind us. Liverpool [have been] our biggest rivals over the last seasons, they are always there.
“A pain in the a** all of the time.
"They are a fantastic team in Europe."
Guardiola continued: "Just take a look - PSG today, they played really well against Real Madrid.
"Inter Milan, Liverpool, Man United are in this competition."
