Luis Diaz: Player to undergo medical outside Liverpool as he's set for a welcome cheering next weekend

Luis Diaz to Liverpool transfer hurdle finally resolved after Tottenham Hotspur rejection

A delay was due to Porto expecting a better offer, putting the Reds approach on hold.

But big news today Friday as the Colombian is expected to officially join the Reds following Porto's rejection of Tottenham's £37.6m approach.

Liverpool will pay an initial fee of €45 million (£37.5m) with an extra €15m (£12.5m) in performance-related add-ons.

Tottenham were said to be willing to pay up to £46m, with £37.6m up front and £8.4m in performance-related add-ons.

However, Porto and Diaz would prefer Liverpool's offer.

Diaz will now undergo his Liverpool medical and put pen to paper this weekend, although all final stages of this transfer will be done in South-America due to the player's availability for his national team for the World Cup qualifiers.

Diaz is set to feature in Colombia's World Cup qualifier against Peru on Friday night, before travelling to Argentina on Tuesday after the European transfer deadline for the second qualifying match.

For that reason Liverpool have sent a team to Argentina, in anticipation of doing a medical there and putting pen to paper.

Diaz is expected to be available for the Reds when they host Cardiff in the FA Cup fourth round on Sunday, February 6.
