Liverpool faced with fresh coronavirus concern

Steven Gerrard's Aston Villa are the latest club to be affected by positive coronavirus cases a day after the meeting at Anfield

Aston Villa have been hit by a coronavirus outbreak less than 24 hours hours after facing Liverpool at Anfield.

And a result of the discovery, the West Midlands side decided to cancel their training session that come soon after the game.

This news will come as a concern to Liverpool, having hosted the Villans in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Steven Gerrard's side are not the only top-flight club facing uncertainty as the omicron variant continues to spread across the United Kingdom.

Tottenham Hotspur had to postpone their last two fixtures against Rennes and Brighton respectively after a widespread outbreak at their training ground led to a number of players becoming infected.

Manchester United are also also believed to have suffered a similar fate to Villa this afternoon, with interim manager Ralf Rangnick deciding to call off training after learning of a number of positive cases among his players.
