Trent Alexander-Arnold was a substitute for England in their victory against Albania at Wembley Stadium on Friday night
Pundit Ian Wright has said in the aftermath of England's 5-0 victory over Albania that Chelsea fullback Reece James is keeping Trent Alexander-Arnold out of the team.
James set up England's first goal of the night and helped the Three Lions keep a clean sheet before making way for Alexander-Arnold with just over 10 minutes to go in the game.
Used as a right wingback at Wembley Stadium, James has started the season strongly for club and country and Wright used the fact that the 21-year-old was starting ahead of the Liverpool star as a sign of how good he is playing at the moment.
"He's keeping someone like Trent Alexander-Arnold out, who is a fantastic player himself,” Wright told ITV Sport.
"He's got everything. His delivery is amazing, his closing down.
"He's got the ability and strength to progress the ball, he’s so combative. He’s a super player."
