Nat Phillips has become the latest Liverpool player to agree a new long-term deal with club
The centre-back, who arrived in 2016 from Bolton Wanderers, had attracted significant interest during the summer transfer window having enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with the senior team last season, with the Reds asking for around £15million.
With Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez having since recovered from long-term injury and joined by £36m centre-back summer signing Ibrahima Konate, Phillips has yet to feature in a matchday squad this season.
But the 24-year-old has been rewarded for his progress and will now stay and fight for his first-team place, with opportunities likely to arise in September with the Champions League and League Cup campaigns beginning for the Reds.
