Liverpool's tension eased as Messi chooses squad number & ready to move

Messi's move to the Parc des Princes will come as a relief for Liverpool after the player was heavily tipped to join title rivals Manchester City

Lionel Messi's proposed move to PSG seems to be moving closer with reports emerging that the Argentine has already held informal talks around the shirt number he would wear in Paris.

According to Sky Sports, Messi is set to agree a two-year deal worth £25m annually with the Parisian club.

The 34-year-old is set to reunite with close friend Neymar JR, with the pair having a long-lasting friendship dating back to the four years the duo spent together at Barcelona between 2013 and 2017.

Reports emerging from Telefoot have claimed that Brazil international, Neymar has already offered Messi the number 10 shirt, which the former Barcelona captain and six-time Ballon D'or winner has reportedly rejected in favour of number 19, which he donned previously at the Nou Camp.

Messi's move to the Parc des Princes will certainly be a relief for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, following reports linking the Argentine with a move to title-rivals Manchester City.

On Thursday evening Pep Guardiola completed a blockbuster transfer,  adding Jack Grealish to his ranks, with the Citizens outlaying a £100m fee, a British transfer record, for the Englishman's services.

"We spent on Jack Grealish and he will wear number 10 because we were convinced about him... and thought Leo would stay. Now Messi is NOT in our plans," Pep said ahead of Saturday's Community Shield fixture against Leicester City.
