Chelsea progressed to the final four of the Champions League with a 2-1 victory over Porto on Tuesday night
Former Chelsea pair Joe Cole and Glenn Hoddle would both rather their old side come up against Real Madrid than Liverpool in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Chelsea progressed to the final-four of the Europe top-tier competition with a 2-1 victory on aggregate over Porto in Seville on Tuesday night.
Thomas Tuchel’s side came into the second-leg at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium with a 2-0 lead from the first-leg.
And although Mehdi Taremi's sublime overhead kick gave Chelsea a late scare, it wasn't enough to halt the Blues from booking their place in the final four.
Chelsea will now play either Liverpool or Real Madrid in the semi-finals , with the second-leg of that tie set to be played at Anfield tomorrow night.
It Real's advantage heading into the game at Anfield after a brace from Vinicius Junior, either side of a goal from Marco Asensio, handed them a 3-1 win over the Reds last week.
But, both Cole and Hoddle, speaking after Chelsea game with Porto, were both in agreement that Real would be the better opponent for Tuchel’s side.
"You'd take Real Madrid in the semi-final over Liverpool, I think. Real Madrid have fallen a long way," Cole told BT Sport.
Before Hoddle added: "I think 80-odd thousand at the Bernabeu, no thank you, but at that training ground, I fancy Chelsea. I think Chelsea can go all the way.
"Listen, Liverpool can still turn it around, let’s be fair - they haven’t got the 12th man they usually have at Anfield, but you never know."
