Liverpool have been told that Borussia Dortmund have “sent a message” over the future of reported target Erling Haaland
Scoring 33 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions this season has seen pretty much every big club across Europe linked with his services, including Manchester City, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Manchester United, as well as Liverpool.
Now, regular commentator Ian Darke has claimed that Dortmund are sending a strong message to potential suitors competing for the Norwegian's signature that it will not be easy to prize him away from the Bundesliga outfit.
"I think it's a shade of the Jadon Sancho story from last summer when Manchester United thought they were going to get their man and Dortmund kept holding out for the figure they wanted,” Darke told
ESPN .
"I think they are sending out a message again here that they don’t really want to sell him unless somebody is going to break the bank.
"Well, interestingly enough, there might be a couple of clubs, even in this COVID crisis, who would break the bank and two of them are in England in Manchester City and Chelsea, who could afford to do it.
"The kid is dynamite. He’s re-writing the record books and he’s a fantastic player. He can change the fortunes for almost any club that he signs for."
