Liverpool have reportedly opened talks to sign Lille defender Sven Botman
According to Express Sport , Premier League champions Liverpool have been in talks with Botman agent who expect a bid in January.
Lille are said to be willing to sell the player, an international team-mate of Gini Wijnaldum and Virgil van Dijk, for less than £20million.
While Liverpool are without the service of first-choice centre-halves Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip they've opted for Fabinho as their most reliable centre-half, with youngsters Nat Phillips and Rhys Williams expected to partner the Brazilian defensive midfielder over the coming weeks.
But Duncan Castles, speaking on Reach PLC's Transfer Window Podcast , claims that Liverpool have begun discussions over a January move for 20-year-old Botman, who has impressed in Ligue 1 this term.
Castle maintained that Liverpool have been in talks with Botman's agent, who believes the Merseyside club will make an offer for the player once the window opens despite claims they would not be looking to sign any new players in the winter.
