Gini Wijnaldum has yet to extend his Liverpool contract beyond next summer and Kevin Phillips believes player's exit has been agreed
Wijnaldum who joined Liverpool in July 2016 is on course to leave Anfield as a free agent in the summer as his contract extension tussle with the Reds continues.
Europe's heavyweight Barcelona - led by former Netherlands international head coach Ronald Koeman have been continually tipped to land Wijnaldum.
And at this point in time, many believe Liverpool will try to cash in on the Dutchman in January after several failed attempts to retain the former Newcastle man's service.
Former Sunderland forward Kevin Phillips also agree with the view but reckoned Wijnaldum has already finalised his next move as he spoke with Football Insider.
"It would not surprise me if something has already been agreed," said Phillips.
"Legally it cannot be made public but it would not surprise me if something has been done in the background.
"I am reading that he has turned down a lucrative new deal so there must be something in the pipeline.
"It would not surprise me if he signs a pre-contract in January or if he leaves in January.
"It is a shame for Jurgen Klopp because Wijnaldum has been a top player for Liverpool. It is another issue that Klopp needs to deal with come the new year."
