Jurgen Klopp enjoys when Liverpool play at Anfield - but the Reds boss admits it's not the same without fans
Jurgen Klopp saluted another incredible Liverpool landmark – but admits "it doesn’t feel right" without supporters present.
The Reds have now gone a club-record 64 successive home league game unbeaten after thumping Leicester City 3-0 on Sunday evening .
The victory moved them beyond the previous best, which had been set between 1978 and 1981 before being ended, coincidentally, by defeat to Leicester.
Liverpool still haven’t lost at Anfield in the Premier League since being beaten 2-1 by Crystal Palace in April 2017.
And while delighted with the new standard, Klopp admits the absence of supporters – who have been unable to attend since March due to the coronavirus pandemic – remains a major negative.
"My problem is that at the moment I've spoken so much about football that I’m only thinking about the next game," said the Reds boss.
"But there will be a moment in the future when I think back and hopefully the number will not be 64 but more.
"It is absolutely incredible, but it's all about the boys. It’s really difficult to achieve something like this when you think about how tight a lot of the games were and the boys had to dig in.
"We really enjoy playing here, it is our ground, our home, everything feels like home even when the people aren’t there – which is absolutely b******s and b*******, it doesn’t feel right but we have to do it.
"The boys on the pitch performance-wise are incredible and that is the only reason for the number.
"It is tricky to set records at this club because our fathers and grandfathers were obviously pretty good.
"I am happy for the players but it doesn’t feel like this in the moment because we play on Wednesday (against Atalanta at home in the Champions League)."
