Xherdan Shaqiri reveals why he snubbed Liverpool exit on deadline day

The Switzerland international had earlier tested positive for the rampaging coronavirus in the Reds team over the week

Few days ago it was reported that Liverpool forward Sadio Mane was diagnosed with Covid-19 not after a lengthy number of days following Thiago Alcantara's news.

The Reds walked the face of a humiliating defeat to Aston Villa on Sunday, leaving behind the pair but sadly on Tuesday morning another news broke out that Xherdan Shaqiri has contracted the same virus after joining up Switzerland for international duty.

Shaqiri was kept out of the Reds last two games with many believing the midfielder was bound to move to another club.


Although, the end result was pleasant to the 28-year-old as remains a Red for another possible lengthy season and has revealed why opted to stay.

"The media write a lot, but in the end I'm with Liverpool," Shaqiri said in a video interview with the Swiss FA as he returned to the national team after 16 months.

“I have a long-term contract, and I really feel good. I have decided to stay with Liverpool. In football, there is always speculation.

“I think the national team comes at a good time to be able to play again and then attack again when I go back to Liverpool."
