Liverpool could offload Swiss midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri before deadline
The 28-year-old missed the Reds Carabao Cup clash against Arsenal on Thursday night and has sparkled news that an imminent exit is weighing up.
According to the Liverpool Echo talks are ongoing about a transfer for Shaqiri with two clubs [undisclosed] said to have shown interest on the former Stoke City man.
The report also claims that the Switzerland international was deliberately omitted from Liverpool's Carabao Cup squad with the Premier League champions unwilling to risk him picking up an injury which would scupper their chance to offload him.
Shaqiri impressed in the previous round of the Carabao Cup against Lincoln City and was again expected to feature for Thursday night's fourth round which saw the Reds knocked out by Arsenal on penalty shootouts.
Jurgen Klopp also hinted a move is on the cards when asked about the player's absence by Sky Sports after the game.
"It's the time of the year where something has happened in the background," Klopp said.
"We have to react sometimes and that's what we did"
