The Reds were expected to do away with Marko Grujic and Xherdan Shaqiri before deadline
In the end they have both players staying at the club with Shaqiri not showing any signs of quitting while Grujic who appeared closer to an exit, had the table turned round after Weder Bremen refused a permanent deal worth around £20million, watching the German transfer window's clock ticking past 5pm deadline.
What it meant is that Liverpool will now be left with over 17 foreign players under their watch which is against the rule of the Premier League.
Grujic who has not yet make an appearance for the Reds in the Premier League since his last against Brighton in December 2017 - will - alongside Shaqiri be ready for a lengthy season of pays without plays.
One of the two Liverpool stars will go sidelines getting his wages but not allowed to play in the top-flight competition until January 1.
Both players lastly played for Jurgen Klopp's men in the Reds 7-2 hammering of Lincoln City in the Carabao Cup third round.
Never knew the club wanting to sign Xherdan Shaqiri? Check out.
