Injury update: Virgil van Dijk and Thiago may return early

Both stars may not be ruled out for a lengthy period as expected

Virgil van Dijk and Thiago Alcantara may return early from injury.

Everton managed to secure a point at home against Liverpool in romping Premier League showdown that saw two of Reds prominent stars injured.

Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk limped off the pitch after 10 minutes into kickoff and was replaced by Joe Gomez.

In fulltime' stoppage, Thiago sustained a minor blow to his knee from Richalison's boot-stamp.

Both players were taken to the hospital for scanning after the match and from that end it was rumoured that van Dijk could miss a whopping 7-8 month of action, although no Thiago claim was made.

Looking at the estimated period of comeback, it makes no sense that Dijk after being able to hop gently alongside the Reds' team doctor remains on sidelines that long.

Oxlade-Chamberlain's had similar issues in 2018 which kept him out all season but the England international was stretchered out of the pitch.

One can argue that the later event was more horrendous.
