Liverpool have provided fitness update and expected return dates for Jordan Henderson, Kostas Tsimikas and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
The trio, 30, 24 and 27 respectively, are currently on the sidelines with thigh and knee injuries respectively.
It was thought that Henderson, who tweaked his thigh in the Reds' 2-0 win over Chelsea, would be fit for Thursday's Carabao Cup clash with Arsenal.
The Merseysiders, however, have no intention of rushing him back too early and intend to re-evaluate his condition on Friday.
"Jordan, we will re-evaluate on Friday after this game to see if he can be ready for Aston Villa," said Reds assistant manager Pepijn Lijnders.
£11million summer signing Tsimikas, meanwhile, won't be in contention for either match.
"We have Kostas, who after the Lincoln game had a thigh problem," Lijnders said of the former Olympiacos man.
"We thought it would settle, it didn't, so he will need more time. He will not be involved on Thursday and also not on Sunday."
Former Arsenal midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain has yet to feature for the Reds this campaign due to the knee injury he suffered in pre-season.
"Ox is progressing well," Lijnders said of Oxlade-Chamberlain. "He's in a good way and it's really important for him that this first phase goes smooth.
"But, of course, that takes a much longer time.
"Joel [Matip] is the same as what I said last week, he will be ready [after] the international break and use the time to prepare the Everton game."
Liverpool will go into their cup tie with Arsenal on the back of a 3-1 league win over the Londoners on Monday night, a victory which maintained the champions' 100 per cent start to the new season.
