Jamie Carragher admits to 'harsh' Leicester City decision on his 'Premier League team of the Season' selection

Jamie Carragher has admitted to a “harsh” call in leaving Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy out of his Premier League team of the season

The former Reds defender did not include a single City player in his 11, despite their excellent campaign, but he did namecheck five of Brendan Rodgers’ men.

With 29 games played, Vardy leads the top-flight goalscoring charts with 19 goals, and, at 33, is on course to become the oldest golden boot winner in the Premier League era.

But, Carragher selected Sergio Aguero as his centre-forward, that is, after mentioning Jamie Vardy and four Leicester City players as candidates to which non he selected.

"I looked at Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jamie Vardy and Roberto Firmino, but I have gone for Sergio Aguero,” Carragher said.

"Whenever he plays, Aguero is absolute dynamite. It may be a bit harsh on Vardy."
