Aleksander Ceferin has hit out at 'fake news' that Liverpool will be handed Premier League title base on a decision by UEFA that will scrap this season's domestic league campaigns across Europe
The European football governing body had met on Tuesday to discuss the crisis facing football across Europe with matches currently suspended because of the global coronavirus pandemic.
The body, on the Tuesday's summit agreed to scrap this year's Euro 2020 tournament scheduled for the summer and told European football leagues that they want the current season to finish by June 30.
The decision is obviously one that will help free up time to complete the interrupted 2019/20 domestic league campaigns across Europe.
But, there were rumours within that Tuesday that UEFA will make decision to cancel European football leagues and declare respective league leaders champions — but the body's president Aleksander Ceferin declared such claims as 'fake' in the end.
The Slovenian said: "I've saw and heard some again fake news that Uefa will advise leagues to finish the championships now and decide that the winners are the ones who are number one now.
"I can say that it's not true. Our goal is to finish the leagues and we didn't recommend anything like that to any association or any league."
