Juventus are reportedly plotting a huge £150m bid to test Liverpool resolve for world class Virgil van Dijk
The Dutch defender who's currently contracted to Liverpool until 2023 has been a huge influence for the Reds, tying to their productive campaigns in the past two years of his arrival.
Van Dijk became the world’s most expensive defender when he joined the Merseysiders from Southampton for £75million in January 2018.
And now, according to the Daily Mail a Juve source has told the Sun that Juventus are ready to double that £75million fee Liverpool paid for the Dutchman in 2018 to make him world most expensive defender once again.
The source suggested Van Dijk may want to move abroad in taste of a new challenge if Jurgen Klopp's side do indeed add a long-awaited Premier League crown to the number of trophies already bagged last year.
"After winning a bagful of trophies with Liverpool, Juventus think he may be ready for a new challenge at the end of the season," the source claimed. "Especially as he’s been playing in the UK for a few years.
"And the club are actively planning to make a huge bid for him in the summer."
Meanwhile, Van Dijk has given no indication that he wants to leave Liverpool, instead announcing that he was happy with life at the Merseyside club.
The Holland skipper said last week: "I'm 28 now and I want to fulfill every dream I ever had.
"Life can be short. Your career can be short as well.
"I'm enjoying playing with this team and this manager. We can’t look too far ahead. But right now, I’m enjoying it."
