Former Reds target make huge Liverpool admission ahead of Champions League knockouts

Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix has given his thought on their forthcoming Champions League round-of-16 clash with Liverpool

Felix joined forces with Diego Simeone's side last summer after making a £113million move from boyhood club Benfica.

He was initially targeted by the Reds as possible replacement for Philippe Coutinho who left Anfield two years ago.

Liverpool will lock horns with Atletico Madrid later this month as the two European giants meet to contest for a place in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

Speaking ahead of the round-16 knockout tie, Joao Felix explained why he thinks Liverpool are the most difficult side to compete this time around.

"It will be a very difficult tie. Perhaps of all the teams, they are the most difficult team," Felix told Eleven Sports.

"Liverpool are in good shape, in excellent form, they are the defending champions and it will be very difficult, as with any match in the Champions League.

"But against this Liverpool who are doing very well, it will be even more difficult.

"The Reds are playing their first leg with Atletico Madrid in the Wanda Metropolitano - the official team of the same stadium where they won the competition last season.
