Liverpool fans are angered by BBC refraining from showing Club World Cup trophy presentation
A dramatic clash with Brazilian side Flamengo was finally settled in extra time as Roberto Firmino fired home the only goal of the game, sealing Liverpool's first ever Club World Cup triumph.
However, fans who tuned in to watch to historic moment were left furious as they were unable to watch Jurgen Klopp's side lift the trophy , as the coverage ended prematurely.
The footage cut out midway through an interview with Reds skipper Jordan Henderson, with host Gary Lineker then informing viewers that they had run out of time.
Fans were instructed to switch over to the iPlayer or to watch online for coverage, only to find that the service had crashed as many tried to tune in.
As a result, many fans took to social media to share their frustrations and slammed the BBC, stating that this wouldn't have happened if it was another broadcaster.
So Liverpool win the #FIFAClubWorldCup2019 and the #BBC decide to sack the program off before the trophy is dished out?!— Lee (@leejako) December 21, 2019
Stinks of Salford quays this!#LFC
Liverpool win the World Club Championship and BBC don't show the cup presentation? Instead we get the Michael McIntyre show! If it was Ben Stokes in the cricket though they'd cancel the Queens Speech!— richard oneill (@silverrich39) December 21, 2019
