'Sadio Mane has surpassed both Mo Salah and Rihad Mahrez to the 2019 Africa Player of the Year prize' ― a close source told Lfc Rumour on Saturday evening
The Confederation of Africa Football (Caf) have announced on [Sunday] the release of the final three man shortlist for the award, with Algeria and Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez joining Liverpool duo Sadio Mane of Senegal and Mohamed Salah of Egypt on the list.
Mane and Salah have helped Liverpool bagged three major international trophies, the Champions League, Super Cup and Fifa Club World Cup, this year.
Mahrez captained Algeria to their first Africa Cup of Nations success since 1980, in Egypt 2019 and also won the Premier League with Manchester City.
All nominated finalist have made significant contributions for their respective club side and country in the year under review.
But a close source, whose identity we are not disclosing has told Lfc rumour the winner of the 2019 CAF Player of the Year Award is Sadio Mane and will be announced on January 7 at the award ceremony to be held in the Egyptian resort of Hurghada.
