Ibrahimovic took to social media last month to announce he would be returning to Europe following his spell in the MLS with LA Galaxy.

The Sweeden International joined Liverpool bitter rivals Manchester United in 2016 before heading to America in March, 2018.

Klopp, when asked about the 38-year-old told Swedish newspaper Sportbladet : "If he had not played for Manchester United before, then we might have considered him.

"No, but I'm not even sure he wanted to play here. We're a pretty intense team," Klopp laughed.

"With that said, I couldn't have had more respect for Zlatan. I love his whole career, love his efforts, love his confidence.

"While it may not always be right, it is entertaining anyway. He's a fantastic character and I really hope he doesn't stop playing football. The world will miss him too much."

Ibrahimovic began his career at Malmo before enjoying spells with some of Europe's top sides including Inter Milan, Barcelona, Juventus, AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain.

On Wednesday evening, the Swedish striker waved goodbye to the United States with an hilarious goodbye message.

He wrote: "I came, I saw, I conquered. Thank you @lagalaxy for making me feel alive again.

"To the Galaxy fans - you wanted Zlatan, I gave you Zlatan. You are welcome. The story continues...Now go back to watch baseball"
