Manchester United Legend Rio Ferdinand has heaped praise on Liverpool's Oxlade-Chamberlain after his Champions League brace against KRC Genk
Chamberlain missed a year of his career following a knee ligament injury he suffered in the 2018 Champions League semi final against Roma.
He completed his painstaking rehabilitation in time to feature during last season's run-in but the competition for places in Liverpool's midfield is even more intense than it was when he joined the club in August 2017.
The 26-year-old shone in Jugen Klopp's midfield setup in Wednesday's Champions League 4-1 win over Genk, scoring twice from both intervals of the game to put the Reds an initial two-goal lead.
"You get the feeling his teammates love him, Ferdinand told BT Sport.
"You can tell Klopp loves him and he's desperate to get him in the team somehow. He offers something totally different to the likes of Milner, Wijnaldum, Fabinho and Henderson.
"He can dribble past people which is hard for a midfielder.
"It's great to see him get back in. I like the way that he gets into those positions.
"Once he gets into those pockets in behind the opposition's midfield he can dribble and shoot.
"He's a fantastic footballer and it's all about decision making there. He offers something totally different in the midfield for Liverpool."
