The Liverpool center-back was reported to have agreed a new bumper two-year deal in addition to the four-year left in his current contract
But according to the Echo, Liverpool have no immediate plans to offer an extension to the Dutchman.
Reports over the weekend claimed Van Dijk has agreed an extension with the Reds to 2025 with the new deal increasing his wages from £125,000-a-week to £200,000-a-week.
The reports also suggested that Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United, and his massive weekly earning of £190,000 played a significant role in Van Dijk's increment.
Van Dijk is currently not at Liverpool with the international duty still on. The defender was part of Netherlands' squad that furnished a 4-2 victory over Germany in the Euro 2022 qualifiers last weekend.
And the Liverpool Echo have now claimed the 28-year-old is mystified by the report of a new improved Liverpool contract as he's not agitated over talks in the past.
